    T2Simon Willison 博客(Atom)

OpenAI today launched its flagship GPT-5.6 family, comprising three sizes: Luna, Terra, and Sol. On Agents’ Last Exam, Sol achieved 53.6, surpassing Claude Fable 5 (40.5) by 13.1 points. Even at medium reasoning, Sol beats Fable 5 by 11.4 points at roughly one-quarter the cost. Terra and Luna outperform Fable 5 at around one-sixteenth the cost. New API features include programmatic tool calling, multi-agent sub-agents, and prompt cache breakpoints. However, on SWE-Bench Pro, Fable 5 scored 80% vs Sol’s 64.6%; OpenAI previously flagged ~30% of that benchmark as broken.

  3. Validity of LLMs as Data Annotators: AMALIA's Challenge on Authority Moral Coding
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

Portugal's national language model AMALIA (9B parameters) achieves agreement with human coders on the moral foundation of authority close to models 8-13 times its size, but agreement is not validity. By decomposing holistic prompts into atomic codebook clauses and recombining them under explicit theory rules, the study reveals the model relies on surface correlates (e.g., moral outrage near authority figures) rather than theoretical constructs, recovering only about half of holistic performance. Cross-lingual transfer fails, pointing away from corpus as the main explanation. The paper argues sovereign-LLM benchmarks should test the evidential route to agreement, not just agreement itself.

  4. LTM: Large-scale Terrain Model for Wildfire-prone Landscapes
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

Accurate 3D terrain maps are critical for wildfire emergency response, but conventional methods are costly or inaccurate. This paper proposes LTM, a multi-modal reconstruction framework that uses outdated Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) as geometric priors. With physics-based pixel-pixel alignment, it fuses images with DEM data without expensive feature matching, producing real-time high-fidelity depth maps on a large-terrain simulator based on a real wildfire area, significantly improving accuracy and efficiency.

  5. BiSCo-LLM: Lookup-Free Binary Spherical Coding for Extreme Low-Bit LLM Compression
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

This paper presents BiSCo-LLM, a codebook-free binary spherical coding framework for extreme low-bit weight compression of LLMs. Local weight chunks are mapped onto a unit hypersphere and binarized into compact spherical codes, with the main payload being a bit-packed sign stream. A residual BSQ stage encodes reconstruction errors without stored codebooks, and category-wise recovery distillation reduces mismatch between local reconstruction and assembled model behavior. An 8-bit protected-channel path stabilizes sensitive channels. Total storage includes binary codes, neural decoders, protected-channel payloads, LoRA adapters, and metadata. The method significantly outperforms existing quantization and VQ methods at very low bitrates.

  1. Resample or Reroute? Budget-Aware Test-Time Model Selection for Large Language Models
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

This paper proposes a budget-aware test-time model selection method that, under a fixed per-query cost budget, dynamically allocates the budget between resampling (regenerating responses from the current model) and rerouting (switching to another model) to maximize expected correctness. The authors design an online allocation policy (RoR) driven by estimated marginal correctness per unit cost. Replay experiments on an eleven-model open-weight pool over four benchmarks show that RoR attains a favorable cost-quality Pareto front compared to several baselines, with the largest gains on the most heterogeneous benchmark. Ablations show gains are verifier-gated and robust under different price vectors and label-free verifiers.

  2. UniClawBench: A Universal Benchmark for Proactive Agents on Real-World Tasks
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

UniClawBench is the first capability-driven benchmark designed to evaluate proactive agents operating in dynamic real-world settings. It builds 400 bilingual real-world tasks around five foundational model capabilities: Skill Usage, Exploration, Long-Context Reasoning, Multimodal Understanding, and Cross-Platform Coordination. Unlike static benchmarks, it evaluates agents in live Docker containers with fine-grained step-by-step checkpoints and a closed-loop evaluation strategy that simulates multi-turn human feedback. The study compares multiple agent frameworks to reveal how base model capabilities and framework designs jointly shape real-world performance.

  3. Score Accuracy Along the Forward Diffusion Does Not Certify Numerical Stability in Diffusion Sampling
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

This paper demonstrates that small score-matching error under forward marginals does not guarantee numerical stability in discretized reverse sampling. The authors construct smooth score fields with arbitrarily small forward-marginal L² error and path-space total variation, yet Euler–Maruyama discretizations diverge in every Wasserstein distance. For compactly supported data, projecting the denoiser onto a bounded convex set restores stability. Experiments with a small DiT network show large growth on rare trajectories suppressed by projection.

  4. OpenCoF: Learning to Reason Through Video Generation
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

OpenCoF is a new framework for reasoning-oriented video generation, comprising the OpenCoF-17K dataset covering 11 task families and the fine-tuned Wan-CoF model. Unlike traditional Chain-of-Thought, OpenCoF performs reasoning through temporally connected frames (Chain-of-Frame), achieving significant gains over the Wan2.2-I2V-A14B baseline on four video reasoning benchmarks. The paper also explores visual and textual reasoning tokens to capture low-level visual cues and high-level semantic priors for spatial and temporal reasoning. Results show that stronger video reasoning requires broad temporal supervision and explicit mechanisms for organizing intermediate reasoning states. The dataset, model, and code are open-sourced.

  5. SLORR: Simple and Efficient In-Training Low-Rank Regularization
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

SLORR is a stateless, architecture-preserving low-rank regularization framework instantiated with variants based on the Hoyer sparsity metric and the nuclear norm. It directly regularizes original weight matrices using GPU-friendly approximations, inducing compressibility with less than 8% training overhead on ImageNet-1K experiments (ResNet-50, ViT) and less than 1% overhead in LLM pretraining at 135M and 560M scales, while preserving significantly better compressed model performance than unregularized models.

Experiments on multiple deep-and-wide search benchmarks show WebSwarm consistently outperforms single-agent and existing multi-agent baselines, effectively addressing the trade-off between depth and coverage.

  7. UltraX: Refining Pre-Training Data at Scale with Adaptive Programmatic Editing
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

As available training data approaches its physical limit, gains from Scaling Laws diminish, shifting focus to data quality. Existing refinement methods face trade-offs: rule-based approaches are rigid, LLM-based ones inefficient. This paper proposes UltraX, a framework completing the editing function space by introducing insertion, enabling fine-grained instance-level editing. It builds a reliable program-supervision pipeline with dataset-adaptive prompt optimization, line alignment mapping, dynamic context replacement, low-confidence filtering, and ratio-controlled sampling. During inference, sliding-window prediction, global operation aggregation, and post-processing ensure stability. Experiments show UltraX achieves the highest average performance across all corpora and matches or surpasses baselines with fewer training tokens, demonstrating superior data efficiency and refinement reliability.

  8. Super Weights in LLMs and the Failure of Selective Training
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

Recent work identified 'Super Weights' in LLMs—individual parameters whose removal degrades model performance by orders of magnitude. This paper shows that such degradation is not universal across all LLMs. Additionally, training Super Weights in isolation (100–8,192 parameters) drops accuracy to random-guessing levels on OLMo-1B and OLMo-7B, and expanding to local neighborhoods of up to 36K parameters provides no improvement. In contrast, training an equal number of randomly chosen positions in the same layers improves performance. Standard LoRA, updating all attention weight matrix positions via low-rank structure with only 0.16% of parameters, succeeds. A 10-seed ablation confirms that constraining LoRA updates at Super Weight coordinates yields statistically indistinguishable results. These findings establish that parameter importance does not imply parameter trainability in isolation, and effective fine-tuning relies on structured decompositions over entire layers rather than targeting individually important weights.
