  5. When Local Monitors Miss Compositional Harm: Diagnosing Distributed Backdoors in Multi-Agent Systems
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

As multi-agent, tool-using LLM systems are deployed, a common safety net is a runtime monitor that checks each message, tool call, or step on its own. This paper reveals a fundamental hole: a distributed backdoor splits a harmful payload across agents, so every local check passes while the assembled object is the attack. The monitor can be right on every step and still miss the attack. The problem is not splitting itself, but 'local benignness': no fragment carries the harm, and what is left looks like ordinary benign traffic. The authors formalize an 'observability boundary': a monitor catches only what its view can tell apart from benign traffic. Experiments prove that once fragments look benign in the monitored view, no detector on that view can catch them. The signal returns only when the monitor sees the assembled object. A monitor trained only on benign traffic recovers the attack's code structure across held-out encodings (0.874 mean AUROC). A decoded-view gate blocks every tested attack given the encoding family. But seeing more is not enough: full-trace monitors and decoders still fail unless they reach the representation where the payload is exposed. Local safety is not global safety when harm is compositional, and the open problem is finding that representation.

  1. Encoder-Side Neuron Identification and Amplification for Acoustic Perception in Large Audio-Language Models
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

Large audio-language models (LALMs) often underperform on fine-grained non-semantic speech attributes such as speaker emotion. This paper introduces IAAN, a training-free and label-free method that scores each feed-forward neuron in the audio encoder by contrasting its activation on real waveform vs. a noise reference, then amplifies top-scoring neurons at inference. On ten non-semantic attributes, IAAN improves average accuracy by 25.7 points on Audio-Flamingo-3, 21.4 on Qwen2.5-Omni, and 9.7 on Kimi-Audio. Controlled experiments show both encoder locus and neuron-level selectivity are necessary; intervening after the encoder yields little gain. This work opens a new direction for inference-time methods that improve acoustic perception through neuron-level access to the encoder.

  2. Requential Coding: Pushing the Limits of Model Compression with Self-Generated Training Data
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

This paper introduces Requential Coding, a compression framework where a teacher model selects training samples for the student model. Unlike parameter-based methods or prequential coding that encode exact data sequences, Requential Coding records only the selections where teacher and student disagree, making code length independent of parameter count and data entropy, often orders of magnitude shorter, with the advantage growing with scale. It reveals compression phenomena unseen by prior methods: under fixed loss, larger models and ensembles compress to much smaller sizes. Plugged into a PAC-Bayes bound, it yields state-of-the-art generalization guarantees for billion-parameter LLMs, tightening with scale in the compute-optimal regime. It also predicts gradual overfitting across epochs and isolates learnable information from random noise, showing lower-entropy text holds far more learnable structure than higher-entropy images.

  3. Invariant Learning Dynamics of Transformers in Inductive Reasoning Tasks
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

This paper presents a theoretical framework explaining how inductive reasoning abilities emerge in Transformer language models. Unlike previous work tied to specific tasks, this study unifies several synthetic tasks (e.g., in-context n-grams and multi-hop reasoning) and proves that training dynamics of attention models can be confined to a low-dimensional invariant manifold. On this manifold, learning dynamics are captured by a handful of interpretable coordinates, revealing how data statistics govern competition between in-context and in-weights learning, how random initializations determine winning circuits, and enabling automatic detection of learned circuits in trained models.

  4. REGRIND: A Minimalist Retargeting-Guided Reinforcement Learning Recipe for Dexterous Manipulation
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

A new arXiv paper presents REGRIND, a minimalist pipeline that learns dexterous manipulation policies from a single human demonstration. It retargets human hand-object motion to robot kinematic references preserving spatial and contact relationships, trains a residual RL policy in simulation to track object-centric keypoints, and transfers zero-shot to hardware with careful system identification. The resulting policies produce fluid, human-like behavior on multi-fingered hands for contact-rich tool-use tasks like scissors and screwdriver. Systematic hardware experiments identify key factors governing sim-to-real transfer.

  5. AdvancedMathBench: A Benchmark Suite for Advanced Mathematical Proof Generation and Verification
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

AdvancedMathBench is a benchmark suite comprising ProverBench (296 problems at undergraduate and doctoral qualifying-exam levels) and VerifierBench (888 model-generated proof trajectories with expert annotations) to evaluate LLMs on advanced mathematical proof generation and verification. Experiments show that GPT-5.5 achieves only 75.8/66.1 on UGD/QE splits for generation and a Balanced F1 of 65.1 on verification, with low true negative rates, indicating critical error detection as a major bottleneck.

  6. An Exact Instrument for State Usage in Selective State-Space Models, and the Input-Driven Migration It Reveals
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

This paper presents an exact instrument for measuring how trained selective state-space models (such as Mamba) use their state modes. Thanks to the diagonal state matrix, each channel's output decomposes exactly into per-mode contributions, and a Gram tensor enables offline computation of the output error when dropping any subset of modes. Validated on Mamba-1 with relative error 2.3×10⁻⁷, the instrument predicts pruning error with median relative deviation 5×10⁻⁷ across 4,464 configurations. Applied to Mamba-1, Falcon-Mamba 7B, and Mamba-2, it reveals that models reallocate state space dynamically based on input: the modes carrying the signal migrate across contexts, and at the most affected layers a per-input oracle roughly halves the output error of a fixed mode set. Counterfactual analysis attributes migration primarily to the input-dependent write map B_t, not the timestep. Input-scheduled mode pruning based on this measurement outperforms static, Hankel-based, and layer-adaptive rankings at all scales from 130M to 7B, and at half the state budget matches the unpruned model.

  7. Playful AI in Professional Email: A Field Experiment on Tone and Recipient Engagement
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

This randomized crossover field experiment investigates how AI-assisted writing affects recipient behavior in workplace emails. 121 employees sent 16,880 emails over three weeks under conditions of unaided writing, GPT-5 playful rewrite, and GPT-5 professional rewrite. Playful editing increased emotional positivity, while professional editing decreased it, yet neither directly altered open rates, reply rates, or response times. However, within-sender positivity strongly predicted opening and replying, revealing an indirect pathway through which AI editing shapes workplace engagement via the emotional tone of language.

  8. Transformer-Guided Swarm Intelligence for Frugal Neural Architecture Search
    T2arXiv AI/CL/LG(论文)

Neural Architecture Search (NAS) traditionally requires massive computational resources, often measured in thousands of GPU-days. This paper proposes a frugal NAS framework combining the global macro-search of an autoregressive Transformer controller (trained via RL) with the local micro-exploitation of an Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm. A dynamic entropy mechanism prevents premature convergence during RL. On a consumer-grade RTX 3060 GPU, it discovers an efficient architecture on CIFAR-10 with only ~174K parameters and 84.85% accuracy in 3 hours, significantly smaller than ResNet-20. For credit card fraud detection, it achieves an F1-score of 0.71 with a compact network of ~4,600 parameters, demonstrating suitability for edge deployment.
